Kid’s Art Club – Imaginary Worlds

We held our third pilot kid’s art club at Cass Art in Kingston yesterday morning. It was lovely to see so many happy faces. Our youngest member was 3 years old and our oldest 10.

We kicked off today with a short happiness sharing exercise and then everyone took part in a 10 minute Creativity Challenge! It was super fun to see what the kids came up with.

Then, taking inspiration from Matisse, we created colourful paper collages to depict imaginative worlds. There were beaches, seas, umbrellas, a huge square sun, a folded boat, a treasure chest, underwater creatures, hot air balloons, giant seaweed, huge tadpoles, jellyfish, pirate ships… and an adventure world with enormous creatures to play with.

Everyone finished up by creating a Story Sphere to capture their emotions. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to get photos of the Story Spheres this week (oops).

That’s our final Kid’s Clubs for the Summer Holidays. It’s been wonderful. Thank you all for coming and making this launch so enjoyable! Stay tuned though… there are more events coming up in September-October. We’re also looking at doing a one-off event for the International Cardboard Box Challenge on 10th October 2015.
